WhatsApp Co-founder Tells Everyone To Delete Facebook: “It Is Time”

The voices calling the people to delete Facebook are gaining traction. In a tweet on Tuesday, even WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton told everyone to delete their social networking account from their digital life. It’s worth noting that Acton sold his company for $19 billion to Facebook in 2014.
For those who don’t know, this #deletefacebook movement is a result of a massive data breach scandal that involved a voter-profiling company Cambridge Analytica, which gathered the information of 50 million Facebook users inappropriately. In case you’re wondering, here’s how you can get rid of your Facebook account permanently.
As per the latest developments, the amount of pressure on Facebook is increasing and different government authorities are taking steps to find out the truth. The company is also taking a serious financial hit and lost more than $50 billion market valuation.
It’s also worth noting that in WhatsApp’s early days, he pledged to never sell ads on his app. However, he ended up selling his company to Facebook, which is basically an advertisement company disguised as a social network. While many called this step hypocritical, it’s pleasing to see him support privacy-focused services.

Facebook Fined £500,000 for Cambridge Analytica Data Scandal

Facebook has finally been slapped with its first fine of £500,000 for allowing political consultancy firm Cambridge Analytica to improperly gather and misuse data of 87 million users. The fine has been imposed by the UK's Information Commissioner's Office ( ICO ) and was calculated using the UK's old Data Protection Act 1998 which can levy a maximum penalty of £500,000 — ironically that’s equals to the amount Facebook earns every 18 minutes.
